Yes, Liguria offers many family-friendly beaches with shallow water and fine sand. Particularly recommended are:

- Spiaggia di San Terenzo (Lerici) - Calm water, ideal for small children
- Spiaggia d'Oro (Imperia, Borgo Marina) - Family beach with sunbeds & play facilities Many beaches offer lidos (bagni) with sunbeds, parasols and child-friendly facilities. Maremonti tip The Riviera di Ponente has warmer water than the Cinque Terre - perfect for families with small children!

Typical complaints such as fever, colds, stomach ache or minor injuries can often be treated with medication from the pharmacy.
Pharmacies (‘Farmacia’) are well equipped and can also advise on medicines for children.
Emergency service pharmacies (‘Farmacia di turno’) are open at night & at weekends - you can find the nearest emergency pharmacy online or on the notice board of every pharmacy.
Tip: Pharmacies in Italy are labelled with a green cross.
In serious cases (e.g. high fever, severe pain, accidents), you should go to the nearest hospital (‘Ospedale’) with an emergency room (‘Pronto Soccorso’). Important hospitals in Liguria with an emergency room: Ospedale di Sanremo (West Liguria)

Show your EHIC card (European Health Insurance Card) at the hospital! It can be found on the back of the normal health insurance card. - It will give you free treatment in public hospitals.
If you visit a private doctor's surgery, ask about the costs beforehand. The examination is paid for in cash at the practice. (approx. 100-150.-€)
