Traveling in Liguria by train is a comfortable and environmentally friendly option. Here are some tips for planning and booking your train trip. You can fly to Milan or Genova but also Nice in France is near. There are shuttle services from all airports to the nearest major train stations.
The Ligurian coast has an excellent rail network. Regional trains run hourly and connect all coastal towns between Ventimiglia and La Spezia. Traveling by train is often a better option than driving. The Cinque Terre Card allows unlimited train travel on the Cinque Terre Express trains between La Spezia and Levanto. There are bus lines along the Ligurian coast that connect the coastal towns. These buses usually run every 30 minutes. It's important to note that tickets are often not available on the bus or are subject to a surcharge. Therefore, it's recommended to purchase tickets in advance at tobacco shops (tabacchi) or bars. To ensure the bus stops, you should signal to the driver that you want to board with a clear hand gesture. Simply standing at the stop may not be enough, and the bus may pass by.
